'Vanessa spends her days collecting strands of spider webs and weaving them into the finest silks for the royal fairies to wear to the ball.  Friendship Garden from The Drawn ThreadDrawn Thread has three new designs... Friendship Garden is the largest if the three, that are all offered in chart format. Measuring 69 x 169 stitches, this was originally designed as a Friendship Round Robin stitching piece. There are six tiny empty spaces in the inside area of the design, each with a corresponding garden, and alphabet template. Each stitcher in the RR can initial her garden area... and the owner of the sampler can stitch her own border! All the border greens are different, and each of the tiny interior gardens are stuffed full of specialty stitches. | ||

January 29More Madame la Fee!!! This is a collection of fun charts -- direct from France! We have added even more... now we have 29 different offerings... treats for your stitching fingers! I love the motifs in these... the little hedgehog and squirrel in the Autumn pieces, all the Christmas pieces are charming... and the kitchen pieces are classy! All designs are presented in French -- but thank goodness, DMC IS THE UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE for stitchers!!! We all recognize those familiar numbers!!! (Anchor floss conversions, too!)  January 23Twist Portable Lamp from Daylight The Daylight Company has a new lamp... a table-top model, that is REALLY NICE! Very portable, it weighs about 2 pounds, and when closed, measures approx 3-1/2 inches in diameter (it's round!!!) and stands approx 12 inches high. Flip open the shade... that's how the light turns on. Light is there, and directed DOWN at your work area. NOW, you have the additional option of tilting the shade to direct the light towards you, or away! The entire lamp even swivels on its small round base! The daylight color-balanced light gives you better color-matching capabilities and reduces eye-strain.  January 12Window of my Heart from The Victoria Sampler All the Windows of my heart I open to the day! Cathy Jean has such a colorful and uplifting design that just bursts from the cover of her new leaflet! Stitched on 28ct Antique Almond Cashel Linen... a lovely hand-dyed gingerbread-y color... the threads used are a mixture of hand-dyed cottons and silks, and are just bold and lovely! Most of the center heart is regular Cross Stitch. Notice the vines all over the heart? They are a Double Running, decorated with Lazy Daisy leaves. Next, the red border is Blanket Stitched... then comes the rest of the Lazy Daisy leaves. Finishes a mere 6-1/2 inches square, this is offered as the leaflet with hand-dyed thread packet. Fall 2009 Gentle Art Limited Edition ThreadsWe have a trio of new Limited Edition flosses by Gentle Art... colors that are proto-types... and not in their regular line. There is a woodsy-brown with hints of green and violet in it -- perfect for tree limbs and bark. Next is a soft browned-orange. A great Autumn color, it's not bright, just soft. Finally, a lovely deep raspberry rose, very subtle in color variation. Pretty colors that fit in between others that you already have... we've bundled the three together for ease. | ||

Ladybug Scissors!!!  Witches Hollowfrom The Primitive Needle We've been enjoying an awesome Trunk Show in the shop from The Primitive Needle... this one, Witchess Hollow, is my absolute favorite of it all!!! This awesome piece is actually quite large, although nothing in it is! It is a CHARMING village scene (can scary and creepy be charming.. I think so!) that is stuffed full of dozens of delightful things! You can study this piece for quite a while and still not discover all the cute things in it! That bat at the top is 'commanding!' Check out the haunted house up there in the middle, complete with resident ghost. The owl in the tree is different... there's a witch flying somewhere on her broom... even a kitty on HER broom, and I love that pumpkin on the stick down at the bottom. Offered as the chart, this finishes an impressive 11 x 25 on 36ct, and is stitched in both Weeks and Gentle Art overdyeds. One of the best Halloween pieces we've come across... my trunk show is coming to an end... and I hate to send back the model! Christmas Ornaments and Candle Mats from Prairie Grove Peddler Prairie Grove Peddler has two new releases... another *very popular* candle mat, and a trio of small ornaments that each feature long-stitched pine needles! The Americana Sheep mat has a patriotic flavor -- and gee -- you have plenty of time to get it done before next summer!!! It finishes approx 9 x 9, and joins quite a few other little mats! The ornaments are really classic. Joy, Poinsettias, and the Cardinal are the main designs, while the pine bough initial box is the bonus backside design!  Santa's Coming! from Shepherd's Bush Here's a quick ornament design by Shepherd's Bush that matches quite a few of their other designs these past few months. Stitched on 28ct Newport Linen (it already has those white background stripes woven right into the fabric)... this little thing finishes only 3 x 3. You can tell that the stitching is fast, and if you don't have the required overdyed Crescent Colours already in your stash, something else close in color might do nicely. It's embellished with a special clay Santa face button, made only for this design. Finish into a 8 x 8-ish pillow, like the pic, or smaller, into an ornament! My dog groomer has an awesome cross-stitched doggie-line-up pic in their reception area... I think they need both of these too!  Designed by June Armstrong, enjoy stitching the entire rows of kitties and puppies... or choose just your favorites, and re-name as needed! The History of Thread from SajouOh my gosh... this is a LOVELY 6 x 8 softcover book -- 238 thick, glossy pages FULL of incredible, beautiful, vintage photos of EVERYTHING to do with antique 'Haberdashery.' Every page is stuffed with pictures of antique needlework thread cards, winders, spools, bobbins, advertisements, color cards, labels, needle packets... you name it. The very BEST part of this book, however, is that while it is in French, it is ALSO IN ENGLISH!!! I can read everything!!!!!!!! So... I can now devour the history lessons delivered on each page that match the pictures! Every page has a history lesson about the products and packaging featured. So many shop advertisements and promotional cards and materials... so much information... I had absolutely no idea much of this existed in days gone by!!! *Absolutely an Over-The-Top, Drop-Dead Gorgeous,* publication, I just want a cold, rainy afternoon, alone at home, a cup of hot tea... and THIS BOOK!  Great Pumpkin! from Threads That BindShawn Williams of Threads That Bind has 4 AWESOME new Punch Needle designs that are full of silly Halloween whimsy, and incredibily intense fall color. I chose Great Pumpkin to showcase here... because I love the fact that the moon silhouetting the house is really a big, fat pumpkin!!! Threads That Bind is undoubtedly the best Punch Needle designer out there... her stuff has such great color sense, none of it is too 'busy' or 'sloppy.' She uses good old fashioned DMC flosses in her designs -- so yours WILL turn out looking as good as the original, (you can actually find the thread at a shop!) and her designs all come clearly pre-stamped on HUGE pieces of antiqued Weaver's cloth. (Huge means like a 14 x 16 piece... so you can get it into a nice large hoop or stand.) Of all our shop models... hers are the ones that always draw the comments and inquiries!
